Been quite a while since I last met up with my JC pals...Guess the last time we gathered was during Xmas period which was almost half a year ago. Meeting up frequently nowadays prove a little bit tough due to our own hectic schedule especially so when some are doing their student exchange program overseas, while the rest are either preparing for their examinations or busy with their industrial attachments/work. Fortunately, a few of us were able to meet up yesterday for a simple dinner and chill out session.

Dinner @ Hei Se Hui (Bosses) Restaurant in Vivocity...

The 19/01 Gang : Yours truly, SD, Geri, WS, David & JY

Our Sumptous Chinese cuisine dinner :

Best dish of all :

Thai Style fried fish with sweet chilli and Mango slices.

A very unique beverage...

Cucumber & Lime Tea - Prove to be soothing to the throat :P

Desserts @ Condura Cafe...

Left to Right : Apple & Pinenut Crumble, Chocolate Royale (Best!) and Tiramisu

Smile! You are on Candid Camera :D... Oh ya, '16' is the number of the day...Our table was '16' when we were dining @ Bosses Restaurant, then our order no was also '16' @ Condura Cafe and SD's birthday fall on the 16th of May...So coincident eh :D

As usual with the other class outings, we weren't sure where to head for our chill out session. Thus we went to a FEW places from Harbourfront to Boat Quay to Clarke Quay ( if not for the crowd, if not for the cover charge, if not for the closure of the club/bar, if not for the dress code...) and EVENTUALLY we ended up in Hed Kandi. Though its not crowded and very quiet, we did have a fun time there.

I Heart Candid Shots....Priceless Expressions!

WW & I.

WS (Chatterbox of the day :D ) & Geri

And so here's a toast to 19/01...Best Friends Forever !

And so I did manage to meet up with JL when I was in Copenhagen last Friday. If not for him, I guess I will just nuah in the room till the day I check out since I have been there twice before. And my SINCERE apologies to Jacinda for not bringing her to the little Mermaid as 'promised'. Wahahahaha....

JL looking cool in his shades with the city of Copenhagen behind him.

My first time ever travelling on a train in Copenhagen. The cabin is very clean and spacious offering plenty of seats.

Things aren't cheap in Copenhagen...Bought this 2-zoner clipcard for 125Kr ( approx S$38 ) !!! I am still not sure how the system work despite JL explaining to me BUT the journey from my hotel to the beach then to his University then back to my hotel already took up 6 out of 10 slots available. This means it cost approx 75Kr ( approx. S$23 ) !!! Wah kinda of ex man.

Since I have been to most places in Copenhagen, JL decided to bring me to this beach which he has found out from the Internet.

Bellevuevej Beach

As usual, whenever we see some statues popped out of nowhere, we will sure...

pose and take photo with it :D Hiak...I can't believe I am even shorter than her :( WTH

Children @ Work n Play

Super clear water...

Kids from Kindergarten...so innocent n cute.

And so JL and I strolled along the entire stretch of the beach...from one end to the other. As we were nearing the other end, our eyes were glued to a few naked fellas at a distance. As we walked nearer, only did we realise that they were all OLD people (Mind you...OLD as in they look like in their 70s or 80s !!! )...what an eyesore !!! Really admire their GUTS to show off their flaws to the public. Yucks...

To show how expensive things are in Copenhagen, here's another example which I came across while 'marketing' in the supermarket...

A 3.2 Kg of meat cost almost 200Kr ( approx. S$60 ) !!!

Lunch @ Butterfly Cafe

JL with his Nachos

Had the Club Sandwich...well, tasted alright and it came in a mess as seen in the pic.

On the way to DTU...

Welcome to DTU

In case you get lost, here's a map of DTU...

330 - Here's the DTU Campus Village where JL and the rest stay...

They stay in container blocks. Each block has its own toilets and a kitchen. It's quite comfortable and well equipped I must say.

Now a peep into JL's room...

Spacious, Comfortable n messy...hahahaha

Instead of pinning all his work assignments onto the board, all I saw were a map of Copenhagen, London tube map, their Italy tour schedule, some receipts and some notices...hahaha...oh ya, and a Denmark flag.

Didn't know there is such a big chessboard @ the library. FYI, there aren't much books in the library. According to JL, the students there normally purchase their books...Woah...

It's summer time now in Copenhagen...It's 2035 hrs and it's still so bright :D.

A BIG

THANK YOU

to JL's friends for whipping up a very sumptuous and delicious dinner and BL for baking one of the best Lemon Bars....that evening was simply one of the best I had overseas :D Thank you guys once again...Really Appreciate it lots.

JL : Thanks for bringing me around and Thanks for the Chocolates :P

I have chosen this Pier.
No one force me to.
It's MY choice.
I know I have been walking on it since the day I chose it.
The same scenary greeted me everyday.
Yet uncertainties lie ahead.
Where's the light thats supposed to guide me ?
There's no turning back now.
Maybe someday I will just miss a step and fall into the sea.
Drown.
Despite my great swimming skills.
I am apprehensive.
I am confused.
I am Lost.
That's my Life.

Overheard this on the bus when I was on my way home today :

Little Girl was whining to her mum and sister after boarding the bus :

Why everyone likes to take the aisle seat and leave the window seats empty. Who do they want to reserve it for ? For the Ghost ah ??? Why don't they allow others to sit ?

Her Mum was speechless and could only chuckle when she heard this.

What she said was very true, almost 40% of the window seats were not occupied whilst the aisle seats were all occupied. In fact, it happens all the time if you observe it carefully. Well, what's the real reasons behind this ? Hmm...only we know ourselves.

Or maybe u are guilty of this eh.

Alright, I admit that I was guilty of this SOMETIMES ( maybe only 20% of the time ). Ooops.

Oh ya, and I was having the window seat today :D

Had a Eating Spree in JB today with LL. After 8 days of not having any decent meals in Berlin and Prague ( Budget mah ), decided to use this trip to pamper my dear poor stomach...LOL.

Before we embark on our eating spree, LL brought me to her house in ( not sure where...LL pls help me fill in this blank ) where she deposited her luggage.

Memories started flowing back when I stepped into her house. It reminded me of my Malaysian relatives' houses which I haven't been for more than a decade! Yes, I am guilty of it now...

The ambience, the interior, the furnishings etc really made me feel like I have stepped back in time to the late 80s or early 90s. As what LL said, no doubt it look old and messy but it gives u a very homely feeling. I totally agree with this.

Was very fascinated by the kitchen...very kampong style.

Look at the furnishings as well as the utensils...all very 'old school' yet it gives me a very homely feeling. Reminded me of my childhood days....reminded me of my old grandma's house. Great Sentimental value.

Like my grandma, LL's mum like to display all her secret
'weapons' needed to whip up a good and sumptous meal for the whole family on the window grills.

The dog which is the pet of the family as well as a guard to the house

On our way to our 1st stop of the day...

The way LL drove the car ...* Shake my head *... just remember to fasten the seat belt !

First Stop...

The Nasi Lemak with the fried chicken drumstick was very nice. The sambal chilli was damn shiok!!! I love it.

Highlight of my trip : Mee Rebus !!!!! I love Mee Rebus and be honest the Mee Rebus here tasted sooooooo nice. LOVE it...According to LL, this stall is famous for its Mee Rebus and appeared on the TV before. Nice Nice. Plus the food was sooooo affordable...only RM2.50.

Second Stop....

The Wanton Mee Stall which only open in the morning. Phew...we managed to make it in time :D

I HEART this Wanton Mee...the noodles are all so Q and the best is they used their own special black sauce instead of ketchup or chilli in SG. Nice Nice Nice ....though I still love the one in HKG ( Again, it's different cos HKG one is soup ).

3rd Stop...

The Fried Doughsticks Rojak...Crispy and sweet :D

Dessert : Red Bean Ice with Chocolate Sauce...wah...this really make me drool. According to LL, it appear on Channel U or U magazine before wo.

LL, Thanks a lot for driving me around trying all the food. Be Frank, its really nice and worth it. No wonder you 'condemn' the food in SG...No worries, I will bring u to taste all the good food here the next time ( But first allow me to do some research ... hahaha ). Peeps out there gotta help me lol.

Only managed to try these few dishes...left the following for my next trip :

-Ban Mian
-Bak Gu Teh
-Dim Sum
-Porridge Steamboat
-Seafood ( Yes Seafood!!! )
-Pekin Restoran food ( They said were damn nice n cheap...must try )
-Beancurd
-Secret Recipe
-KFC ( Yes, Malaysia's one tasted much better than the ones here )
- and many more...

If you guys got any to recommend, pls do tell me.

Will update my Berlin and Prague trip soon. Anyway the trip was tiring but worth it.

Last but not the least, Many thanks to those who wish me a Happy Birthday...really appreciate it.

One Good news to share...

I will be going back to studies soon :D

Kinda of miss my student lifestyle after leaving NUS for more than 2 years.

Actually, do I really miss it ?

The stress, the fierce competition and the uncertainties put me off.

LOL.

Wonder if I really can cope after 2 years of absence ?

Be frank, I have forgotten most of the theories I have learnt in school.

Simple integration can now be a blow to me.

An empty headed now.

Time to start from scratch and to work doubly hard.

Ganbatte.

Brought LL to Cream Bistro for a late lunch after my interview the other day. Poor babe, she was starving while waiting for me to finish my interview. Anyway, must thank her for accompanying me throughout :D

Food were really delicious making LL complimenting non-stop. Plus her expressions were priceless.

Seem like my schedules for the next 2 months will be very tight. Besides my work, I have a whole list of activities lining up...

- Meet up with friends, friends, friends and friends.

Time to meet all of them especially when most of them have finished their examinations.

- A short overseas trip with all my besties

- Meet up with my dear grandma, uncles, aunties, cousins and my dear baby nephew n niece :D

- A family short overseas trip

So many things to do yet so little time. Haiz...shall manage my time when my new schedule is out this mid May.

Alright, will be abandoning this blog for about a week.

Off to Berlin & Prague.

Promised to bring loads of photos back.

Stay Tune !

Meanwhile, take care...

Before I sign off,

A HAPPY 24TH BIRTHDAY TO JANG SON

in advance.

Wish that I could have a better year ahead !!!

Was overjoyed when I received a call today to ask me down for the interview tomorrow. Phew...I was given a second chance and was told that this was the very last slot available....So better not miss it again...Hahaha :D Kinda felt relieved and embarrassed as well.

Was back from London on last Sunday evening. As expected although I still cannot believe it till today, I did not go anywhere except to Bayswater where we had the famous Roast Duck rice :P. Rest of the time were spent sleeping, watching TV and surfing the Internet in the comfort of my room. Came to think about it now, I kinda of regretted not exploring London even if it means going back to the same old places which I might have visited a couple of times before. Actually London has so so much to offer... Greenwich, Windsor Castle, the many popular Plays etc etc and oh yes, plus Stratford-upon-Avon ( about an hour by train from London ) where Shakespeare was born !!!

The walk through Kensington Garden from our hotel to Bayswater. Relaxing.

High Street Kensington. A Shopping Heaven.

My Buy from M & S... As usual, my fruit juice ( this time I had the apple n mango flavour...Nice Nice ), Extremely Chocolatey Mini Bites ( recommended to me by Han Bing - don't really like it initially but when I brought it back to SIN, it melted a little, as in the chocolate became softer and it blended so well with the sponge cake in it and thus tasted much nicer and more chocolatey :P ) and the Belgium Chocolate Cheesecake...quite nice though I only managed to finish half of it. Oh yes, in case u are thinking, yes I have a sweet tooth :D. Why can't the M & S in Singapore sell all these foodstuff ?

That's it for my London stay. Nothing exciting at all.

Monday, April 28, 2008

I was so tired when I got back from London last evening.

Slept very early but woke up in the middle of night scouting for food.

Manged to sleep at 7 am this morning but was so tired that I actually overslept !!!!!

There goes my future....I ruined my future just like that ??? OMG!!!!!

Supposed to attend a very important interview today but, have no choice, to postpone it. What a bad impression I gave them. Wasted. Damn it.

What the fuck is wrong with me ???

Forget it.

It's my fault...no one to blame.

*Crossing my fingers*

Hope I can pass the interview if I were given another chance.

Now let's stop procrastinating.... time to tidy my wardrobe. I seriously have no idea what new clothes I have bought for the past couple of months.

Ciao.

Afterall, the 1 night stay in Jakarta was not as bad as I thought it would be after hearing mixed reviews from different people. Initially, I was kinda of reluctant to go there...thanks to the reviews related to by my fellow peers. However, I soon realised that my fears were uncalled for when I entered my room and in fact, I really enjoyed my stay there and would not mind going there again.

Lesson learnt : Never trust others' opinions easily until you have experienced it yourself eh. People tend to exaggerate or rather add salt and pepper....dun you agree ?

So here are some of the bad reviews regarding the hotel I have heard from my fellow colleagues :

(1) There's no air-conditioner except a ceiling fan.

FYI, it was freezing cold in my room and there wasn't any ceiling fan. I simply love the temperature :D So comfortable.

(2) There's lots of mosquitoes in the room.

This is my worst fear. I hate mosquitoes and all of you know how irritating it can be to be bitten all over by these evil blood suckers. FYI, I did not spot a single mosquito in my room. I had a very peaceful night and had no bites at any parts of my body throughout my stay.

(3) The rooms were 'dirty'. Well, you know la...those supernatural thingy.

Well, to me the room I stayed in was very clean and peaceful. I really love the room and be honest, I had a very very comfortable stay. I just love it. Relaxing n cozy....woooohoooo :D

Though we arrived in the morning and had the whole day to do lots of things, I decided to just stay in my room and rest. Some went for massage, pedicure and spa treatment, some went swimming and gyming while others went to the city which is about an hour drive away.

Took a nap after I showered and woke up just in time for my dinner. Have been looking forward to ordering the Nasi Goreng as many people were telling me how nice it was. And so, I decided to order room service and ordered a few courses for my dinner.

Within 30 minutes of my order, my food came and was delivered on a lovely portable table dressed nicely as seen below ....

What a waste when I am dining alone....

These were what I ordered....

Appetiser :

Thai Beef Salad

Salad:

Gado Gado

Soup:

Tom Yum Soup

Main Course:

The famous NASI GORENG !!!

Was damn full and my stomach was very bloated after I finished everything. The Thai Beef Salad was very nice and the chilli lime dressing that came with it were out of this world...hahaha. The Gado Gado well was average and the Tom Yum soup...sorry to say...suck. Nothing beats the authentic Tom Yum soup in Thailand. Ok, now the Nasi Goreng....true enough...it did not disappoint me....the rice was delicious though the satay was a little dry and tough (as it's beef) and the fried stuff were a little soggy for it was left outside for quite sometime. All in all, the room service was superb and very affordable. All these for just S$30....so kinda cheap. A satisfied and happy boy at the end of the day :D

Oh yes, I was quite impressed with the portable table. Initially, when the hotel staff delivered it to my room, I only saw my Gado Gado and my Thai beef salad. Was thinking in my mind that something was missing from the table....Ahhhh...where's my Nasi Goreng and my soup??? So he showed me this black box beneath the table and when he opened...dada...my rice and soup were inside...Was impressed as it was a warming cabinet and so everything was kinda hot inside. Wow...ok...maybe some of you may have seen this before but as I do not order room service that regularly, I am quite impressed by it. Nice touch.

Alright, that's it for now.

Heading to London tomorrow morning. Guess this time I will just stay in my room and do my own stuff. Were back from London not too long ago and have done what I wanted to do and so its time to rest my body. Anyway, be going to a faraway place in May for my holiday and think gonna spend a lot. Time to start saving now....
